A Farewell to Orkut

Youve probably never heard of Orkut (unless youre Brazilian) and I didnt even recall having an account with them, but yesterday I received an email from Google telling me they were closing the service down. Orkut was Googles version of Facebook; launched in 2004 it became one of India and Brazils most popular websites. However, Facebook e clipsed it in the rest of the Western World and if you live in the West (outside of Brazil) then youve probably never heard of it. Google say that the growth in YouTube and Google+ means that Orkut is no longer needed. It lasted longer than Google Buzz though, which barely lasted a year.

How to extract or get email id from orkut

This is a very simple trick to extract email ID of any orkut user. This Works even if the target is not your friend. Below are the steps to do this:

Steps:-

• Navigate to the profile page of the member you wish to know the email address.
• Add that person as a friend.
• Now navigate to your friends page.
• On the right hand side, you will find a option to export contacts.
• Choose Export Contacts Option.

• Fill in the Word Verification on the Next Page.
• You will be prompted to download the contacts.csv file.
• Once you have downloaded the file, open it in Microsoft Excel or any other compatible software.
• You will see all the email addresses including those which have not yet accepted your friend requests but have recieved your friend request.

Get your Orkut Friends Birthday reminder on your Mobile

This trick will help you setup a Birthday reminder for all your Orkut Friends on your Mobile using Google Calenders. Below are the few steps to do this:]
Step1:
Log on into your Orkut Account.
Step 2:
Now in a new tab, Go to Google .com
Step 3:
On the Top-Right end, you can see "My Account". Click on it.
