Happy PowerShell User Group Day all!

In case you didnt know today is International PowerShell User Group Day.  For the life of me I cant tell you why today, but, its whats going on.  If you are interested there are several talks today, some free giveaways, and, a chance to get involved with the larger community.  Check it out here:

The speakers include Don Jones and Ed Wilson, two guys worth listening to, if you dont mind me saying.  At the moment none of the presentations have started, but, they will be heating up later this afternoon.  If you can spare some bandwidth, give a listen.  As noted on the website (http://ipugd.org/2012/02/01/join-us-march-19th-2012-for-the-international-powershell-user-group-day/) presentations will be broadcast live at three show times to support Europe, Asia and America, plus everywhere in between!

  • 1st broadcast – 12:00 PDT (19:00 Zulu)
  • 2nd broadcast – 15:00 PDT (22:00 Zulu)
  • 3rd broadcast – 18:00 PDT (01:00 Zulu)
Last Saturday was our March 2012 meeting.  Chris Morgan presented a script used to consolidate data vendors were unable to extract from SQL Server, write it to a CSV file and email it to the appropriate people.  There were lots of great tips on how to work with Excel.  As of yet, we do not have any sort of recording going on for the meetings, so, if you want to see what next month holds (and trust me you do) youll have to make it out there.  If any of the group users would like to propose some ways to help capture these meetings so we can post them or--here I go getting really ambition--streaming live, let me know.  Id love for someone to take the lead on that opportunity.  Youll get unending fame and the groups high five.

During our meeting we had a chance to share some awesome swag from one of our sponsors, Sapien Technologies.  We were all very excited to get some goodies, and, let me tell you, those little thumb drives are really cool.  If you dont know what Im talking about Ill leave the suspense to make you find out. (Evil mastermind grin.)  A fun but somewhat suspicious script was operated by Mr. Josh Miller (I wrote it so that was the suspect part) to help figure out who was going to what goodies.  I wont give out names beyond my co-conspirator just mentioned, but, folks were able to get T-shirts, CDs, really cool flash drives and even a free e-copy of the Don Jones Windows PowerShell 2.0 TFM. So, next month, try and make if you can.  And, for those of you with bad excuses youre missing out!

If you get duplicate emails please let me know so I can clean up our data and stop spamming you.
